Akeem Chandler-Prescod (StonedwithCupid) is a multi-award winning spoken word artist from Barbados. Renowned for his lyrical dexterity and magnetic stage presence, Akeem seamlessly blends elements of Hip-Hop, Soul, Storytelling, and Theatre into powerful, evocative performances that resonate deeply with audiences. Akeem’s career is decorated with remarkable achievements, including two Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Spoken Word Awards and an impressive haul of three NIFCA Golds, five Silvers, and one Bronze Medal among his nine overall NIFCA awards. He has also won the National Library Service Poetry Slam Competition and two Gine On People’s Choice Awards for “Spoken Word Artist & Poet of the Year.” His accolades further include the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Best Original Entry, the Earl Warner Trophy for Excellence in Theatre, and the 50th Anniversary of NIFCA Award, underscoring his versatility and artistic excellence. His most recent accomplishment includes being the host and featured performer at Wapax! The first Regional Poetry Slam held at CARIFESTA 15 as well as performing at four of the CARIFESTA Big Conversations including the launch event under patronage of the Hon.
